The
Blessing of A God-Given Cause
I read a
book a book several years ago by Brian Houston that focuses on a purpose, a
cause in life. Here in America, we are
so blessed that we lack a CAUSE big enough to build our life around. Without a Cause, we’re like a ping-pong
ball. That is, we bounce around with a
lot of activity, but don’t actually go anywhere.
Jesus
came to this earth with a cause.
The King James Version states the word cause, while the NIV uses the
word reason or purpose. In the gospel of
John we find him saying in 12:27,
No, it was for this reason <KVJ
cause>I came to this hour. In John
18:37 he said, In fact for this reason <cause KJV> I was born.
Genuine motivation doesn’t come from our
role in life, but it does come from a cause.
A God-given cause is something that affects every role in our life. Do
you have a God-given cause that
is bigger than life itself? If
you do, you’re a Blessed person.
The Bible calls each of us to be Kingdom Builders. I read the story of a famous English
architect who was directing the construction of St. Paul’s
Cathedral in London. While on the job site the architect asked a
laborer with a wheel barrel the question.
What do you do here? The laborer who didn’t know the questioner was
the architect replied, Sir, can’t you see, I’m building a great
cathedral. He could see past the
limitations of his specific job-description
Occasionally we hear someone say, I feel
sorry for that person because they’re so driven. Yes, some can become so unbalanced they
neglect the proper role of a spouse or parent.
However, what we see too often today are people who have no God-given
cause, reason or purpose for their life.
Have you discovered the Blessing of a God-Given Cause? Could you explain to someone in a few minutes
your Cause in life? Could you write it
down in a few sentences?
When we have a God-Given Cause, it will bring
motivation to our life. We’ll want to
maintain health so we can be more effective for the Lord. A cause will keep us
from taking the path of least resistance.
A cause will keep us on the straight and narrow, when our old nature
wants to go down the wide road. A cause
will motivate us to be a better person, a better spouse, parent or grandparent.
A cause will motivate us to deal with issues in our life. It will give us
purpose whether we’re single, married, divorced or widowed. It will give us purpose whether we have
children or don’t have children. It will
give us purpose when we have a good job, bad job, or no job. It will give us
convictions to live by. A cause will keep us going when we want to give
up. A cause will give us purpose when
we’re young, middle-aged, or retired. A
God-Given Cause Releases Blessings in our life!
How can I find my God-Given Cause in
life? Would you try the Ask, Seek and
Knock Principle in Matthew 7:7-8. The
Holy Spirit will HELP each of us to not only discover our God-Given Cause, but
also enable us to fulfill such a
cause
